Remote into the store using VNC. Find the tab named “Kit”, as shown on the screenshot below:
Here you can see the connected satellites. In this example there is one with the IP .70 and one with .71.
Below the IP address, you will see the text “in” or “out”.
- In: Is the checkin computer.
- Out: Is the checkout computer.
Click on Send Restart in order to initiate the restart:
The expected result is and that means the computer is restarting:
If you did not get a message (you may need to wait for it to timeout, can take up to 30sec or so). It could mean that the prerequisite configuration has not been done on the satellite. (See next chapter for more info on that.)
Prerequisites
For the remote connection to work. Instant Systems needs to do the following configuration on the satellite computers. Remote to the IP (usually is: 192.168.148.70:62005).
Open Windows Firewall Settings
- Hold shift and click on the button marked in green:
- Type firewall.cpl and press Enter to open the Windows Defender Firewall.
Advanced Settings
- In the left sidebar, click on Advanced settings to open the Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security console.
Create a New Inbound Rule
- In the left-hand pane, click on Inbound Rules.
- In the right-hand pane, click on New Rule to start the rule creation wizard.
Select Rule Type
- In the New Inbound Rule Wizard, select Custom.
Specify Protocols and Ports
- If you chose Custom, click Next until you get to the Protocol and Ports step.
Specify Scope
- You can specify the IP addresses that can ping the machine. For example, you can allow all IP addresses or just specific ones.
- Click Next when done.
Specify Action
- Choose Allow the connection.
- Click Next.
Profile
- Select when this rule applies (Domain, Private, or Public). Typically, you would want this to apply to Private and Domain networks.
- Click Next.
Name the Rule
- Give your new rule a name (e.g., "RemoteRestart").
- Click Finish.
