Step 1: Admin configuration
To enable ChipDNA and Ingenico Self 4000 on a specific kiosk, configure these kiosk settings in admin:
ChipAndPinDeviceModel: Ingenico-Self-4000-RAM
ChipAndPinTerminalIDCC: Value provided by Instant Systems from NMI
ChipAndPinTransactionKey: Value provided by Instant Systems from NMI
ChipAndPinCurrencyCode: Numeric ISO currency code
Step 2: Install and configure reader
Follow these steps to properly install the card reader on your kiosk:
Tools Needed
- Phillips screwdriver
- 4 mounting screws (provided with the card reader)
Installation Steps
- Position the Card Reader
- Align the card reader's mounting holes with the pre-drilled holes on the kiosk.
-Use the provided 4 screws to firmly attach the card reader to the kiosk.
-Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver, ensuring the card reader is securely fastened but not over-tightened.
2. Connect the Cables
-Connect the power cable to the card reader’s power input.
-Plug the Ethernet cable into the card reader’s network port.
-Once connected, the card reader will automatically turn on.
Configuration in maintenance menu
To enter the maintenance menu on the Ingenico SELF series devices can be a bit tricky, as it requires precise timing during the device startup. Here’s how you can do it:
Accessing the Maintenance Menu
- If the device is already powered on, unplug the power cable to turn it off.
- Press and hold the Maintenance button (transparent square button on the back of the device in the top-right corner).
- While holding the button, power the device back on. If you're quick, you can press and hold the button right after the device lights up with a white light.
- Continue holding the button until it flashes red, then release it.
- The device will beep, complete its usual “Welcome” startup procedure, and display the following screen:

6.Use the up and down arrows to navigate to RA1. When prompted, enter the password 1985, then press the ⦿ (circle) button.
7.Set the Correct Connection Method, navigate to Comms Method and select TCPIP
8.Hit back (yellow key) and go to TCPIP settings
-Make sure local port says 8087, otherwise change to it
-Under assignment, make sure DHCP is selected
-Under TP role make sure Server is selected
9.Hit back until Maintenance mode screen appears then power cycle device
Step 3: Kiosk Configuration reader
- Login to merchandiser mode on machine
- Navigate to Utilities/actions and select ChipDNA as payment reader
- Once ChipDNA is selected a serial number field will appear. Enter serial number from display screen of self 4000 device (all numbers including leading 0) then hit restart:
Requirements
- InventoryOS release >= 1.295
- Test the following to complete setup:
- Start a transaction and then cancel it before presenting the card
- Software should go back to start
- Start a transaction, present the card and cancel transaction on cart page
- Transaction should be Voided and released from bank statement
- Perform a transaction below PreAuth amount
- Amount should be debited and shown on bank statement
- Perform a transaction above PreAuth amount
- Amount should be debited and shown on bank statement
- Start a transaction and then cancel it before presenting the card
