The adding of a screensaver is done through the Admin back office.
Image upload
To upload an image, follow these few steps. This is the picture that you will have as your screensaver.
Navigate to Network > Media Upload
To begin the process of uploading a background image or logo, navigate to the tab labeled "Select Media Type." Within this section, you will find an option to choose "Background Image / Logo." Once you have selected this option, proceed to the field labeled "Media Name." Here, you should enter a descriptive name for the image you are about to upload, which will help you identify it later.
Next, look for the "Browse" button. Clicking this button will open a file selection dialog that allows you to navigate through your computer's directories to find the image file you wish to upload. It is important to ensure that the image you select is in PNG format, as this is the required file type for successful upload. After you have located and selected the appropriate image, click the "Upload" button to complete the process. This will upload your chosen image, and it will be ready for use as a background image or logo.
Once the image has been successfully uploaded, you should navigate to the following path:
Network > Settings > Kiosk Settings to proceed with the necessary configurations.
After reaching the Kiosk Settings section, you will need to locate the Kiosk/Location tab. Within this tab, you can initiate a search for the specific kiosk you are interested in. Once you have found the appropriate kiosk, direct your attention to the key field where you will input the relevant values to continue with your setup process.
StartPageImage is a feature that allows you to customize the start page of your application by changing the image displayed. To implement this, you need to specify the name of the image file that you have recently uploaded, ensuring that you include the .png file extension at the end of the name. This step is crucial for the system to recognize and display the correct image. After setting the image name, you will also need to configure another setting: ShowStartPageOverlay. In the value field for this setting, you should enter the word True. This action will ensure that the overlay on the start page is visible, enhancing the overall user experience.
ShowStartPageDetails is another important setting that allows you to control the visibility of certain elements on the start page. You have the option to set this to either False or True. When you choose False, both the logo and the Lova QR code will be hidden from view, creating a cleaner interface. Conversely, if you set it to True, the logo and the Lova QR code will remain visible on the start page, which could be beneficial for branding or user identification purposes.
When uploading an image for the start page, it is recommended to use a size of either 700x700 pixels or precisely 800x1280 pixels. These dimensions are ideal as they ensure that the image displays correctly across most kiosk screens, providing a full-screen experience. Additionally, it is important to note the supported file formats for image uploads. The system accepts images in PNG, JPG, and JPEG formats, giving you flexibility in choosing the best format for your needs.
Localizations
To remove the default text “Hi! Tap to enter.” from your kiosk screensaver, go to the admin settings. Delete the text, replace it with a space, then click next to the field until it turns green to save. Remember, there can only be one localization override per keyword in each database, such as by operator or store name.
Look for these localizations:
start_page_hi & start_page_tap_to_enter
Update/sync
The changes will be updated automatically after some time but if you need the change immediately follow these steps:
Sync the settings and the files on the kiosk (on the sync page). Then just restart the kioskware through the merchandiser view.
